1. What are cookies
Cookies and similar technologies (local storage, session storage) help Assisted Apply remember preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the marketing site and app are used.
2. Cookies we use
- Essential: Authentication, security, and session management on app.assistedapply.com.
- Preferences: Theme (light/dark) and UI settings on www.assistedapply.com.
- Analytics: Optional tools such as Google Analytics, PostHog, Umami, or Microsoft Clarity when enabled via environment configuration — used to measure traffic and improve the product.
- Marketing: Optional pixels (Meta, Google Ads, LinkedIn) when configured for ad attribution and conversion tracking.
3. Third-party services
Analytics and advertising providers may set their own cookies when their scripts load. Their use is governed by their respective privacy policies. We load these scripts only when the corresponding environment variables are set — see docs/ANALYTICS.md.
4. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or core app features from working. You can also use browser extensions or opt-out tools offered by analytics vendors.
